CURRENCY

The local currency is the Euro (€), which is broken down into 100 cents. Coins come in 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, and 50 cent coins, 1 and 2 (€) coins, while notes are issued in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 (€) denominations. U.S. currency is accepted at many restaurants and shops.

TAX

Some hotels add an additional 10% to 15% service charge. Most restaurants include a 15% service charge. For current exchange rate, see the see the currency converter under the Trip Planning section on the Caribbean home page.

TIPPING

5% tip is the standard in restaurants, where as taxi drivers have don't expect any tip.

TRAVELLER'S CHEQUES

Traveler's cheques are accepted throughout the country.

CREDIT CARDS

Most major credit cards are accepted at most businesses.

BANKING HOURS AND AUTOMATED TELLERS

Banks hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Most have 24 hour ATMs.
